Do you know how old you have to be to get the above allowance.

Hi John, to qualify for this years payment you need to have been born on or before 5 July 1952.

Don’t forget you may also be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment.

If you google “cold weather payment” the directgov website has a cold weather payment tool, all you need to do is type in your postcode and it advises if you have reached the criteria to receive a payment :

You may get a Cold Weather Payment if you’re getting certain benefits.

Payments are made when your local temperature is either recorded as, or forecast to be, an average of zero degrees Celsius or below over 7 consecutive days.

You’ll get a payment of £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather between 1 November and 31 March.

These were my results for my postcode:

The Department for Work and Pensions have been notified that no periods of very cold weather have occurred in the CV13 postcode area between 1 November 2014 and 29 January 2015 that would trigger a Cold Weather Payment. No Cold Weather Payments are due to be made.
